North Korea beats Qatar 1-0 in friendly

DOHA, Qatar (AP)—North Korea beat Qatar 1-0 on Friday in a warm-up match ahead of next week’s Asian Cup.

Midfielder Ryang Yong-Gi converted a penalty in the 69th, and North Korea’s stingy backline neutralized the Qatari attack to hold on for the victory.

North Korea opens play at the Asian Cup next week against the United Arab Emirates. Iran and defending champion Iraq are also in North Korea’s group.

North Korea have scheduled three friendlies before Asian Cup.

Two friendlies against Kuwait on 25 and 27. December in Cairo has been confirmed by Kuwait FA website.
